ELECTRONICS RECYCLING OPTIONS
Effective September 1, 2010 the following electronics will be banned from landfill disposal:
Computers
Monitors
Televisions and other video display devices
Fax machines
DVD or VCR players
Printers
Cell Phones
Why Recycle Electronics?
Computers, computer accessories, TV's, cell phones and other electronics contain harmful materials including lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, other heavy metals and chemical flame retardants. When thrown in the landfill, incinerated or illegally dumped, these chemicals can leach into the environment, where they may affect human and environmental health. Improperly discarded electronics may also pose health risks to workers from companies that manage the electronics.
