Curbside Recycling Guidelines
Outagamie County Recycling & Solid Waste takes great pride in our recycling program by providing the following services:
- Provide curbside recycling collection for approximately 66,000 households within the county, including all of Appleton and New London residents who live in single-family, duplex, tri-plex and 4-plex units. By law, property owners of 5 units or more must provide adequate recycling for their tenants.
- Process the recyclables at the Tri-County Recycling Facility.
- Provide education and outreach to residents and business about recycling and waste reduction.
How to place recycling at the curb
- Do NOT place material in plastic bags.
- Place all recyclable material loosely in a reusable bin or cart.
- There is no need to separate paper from containers.
- Flatten and cut cardboard boxes to 2’ X 2’ or smaller.
If you live in a community where you supply your own reusable bin, follow these guidelines:
- Do NOT place material in plastic bags.
- Reusable containers should be no larger than 33 gallons or weigh more than 50 pounds.
If you live in a community where a wheeled cart is provided, follow these guidelines:
- Do NOT place material in plastic bags.
- All recyclables must fit into your cart with the lid closed.
- Place your recycling cart with the front of the lid facing the street and the wheels of the cart toward your house.
- Keep your recycling cart 4 feet away from obstructions: your garbage can, mailboxes, utility poles, trees and parked cars.
What can I recycle?
Use our Waste Wizard website tool to look up the proper disposal of materials.
Where can I take my recycling?
If you miss your normal collection day or if you have a larger than normal amount of recyclables, you can:
- Save for a future collection day.
- Ask a neighbor if they have extra room in their cart.
- Bring to the free recycling drop-off site.
When are my recyclables picked up?
Your collection day depends on where you live. Please check our Pick Up Calendar, call LRS at 920-759-0501, or email us to find out your collection day.
