Position Purpose
Working full time, the Scale Operations Technician processes customer transactions, coordinates shipping of recyclable materials, maintains accurate and up-to-date records, communicates with customers via phone, email, and in-person, and performs daily cash handling procedures.
Hours for this role are:
Monday–Friday: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Approximately one Saturday per month: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Position Purpose
Bring your mechanical skills to a hands-on role where your expertise makes an impact.
We’re looking for someone with experience in equipment preventative maintenance and repair, along with a solid background in millwright or plant maintenance work. A two-year technical degree or trade certification is preferred.

Position Purpose
The Seasonal Solid Waste & Recycling Field/Scale Assistant will be assisting the department in administrative tasks, data collection, educational strategies, and weigh scale functions. May be assigned to either the Landfill Division or Recycling Division of the Recycling & Solid Waste Department based on daily operational support needs.
HOURS: Estimated start is beginning/middle of May 2026 and goes through the summer.
Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm; Saturday 7:00am – 12:30pm (on a rotational basis). There is possibilities of overtime

The state-of-the-art Tri-County Recycling Facility, located in Appleton, WI, is one of the largest publicly owned and operated single-stream recycling facilities in the United States. The facility processes over 80,000 tons of material each year, serving most northeast Wisconsin communities.
When collection trucks leave local neighborhoods, they travel to the Tri-County Recycling Facility where recyclables are:
* Separated from one another by hand and by high-tech sorting equipment.
* Compressed into storage bales for easy shipping.
* Marketed and sold to companies to be re-manufactured into a wide array of new products.
